Amazing Tour with Egypt Key Tours
I had an amazing private tour of the pyramids of Giza and old Cairo lead by Jimmy from Egypt Key Tours. My Group had a very limited time (18hr Cairo layover) and the trip jimmy put together was amazing. Unfortunately our arrival was after closing of the pyramids but jimmy arranged a special camel ride to the backside of the pyramids which was crazy amazing.
After that we had a pre-arranged dinner and afterwards a private tour of the Old Cairo after dark. The market and architecture of Old Cairo is unforgettably and Jimmy made the whole experience even more unforgettable by his meticulous planning and knowledge.
He was very easy to listen to (a walking history book) and made us feel absolutely safe. When I return to Egypt there will be two certainties-that I have more than 18 hrs, and that I book with Egypt Key Tours!

Day 1: Fayoum Adventure
At morning Egypt Key tour guide will pick up you from your hotel in Cairo towards Fayoum Oasis by an private air-conditioned 4*4 Jeeps. Fayoum located to southwest of Cairo about 95 KM( one hour driving). Fayoum is a large fertile depression or basin for 70 km wide and 60 km long.
Fayoum also considered a cult center for worshipping the crocodile God Sobek during ancient time era. You start your visit by seeing the lost temple of Qasr El Sagha
the temple hidden in the desert on the northern side of Lake Qaroun, and in fact blending into the hills behind it, the temple of Qasr El Sagha was lost and then rediscovered by the archaeologist Schweinfurth in 1884.
The site can be reached via a track from Kom Ushim and is about 25 km from the main road. Above the northern shore of Birket Qarun, in a now deserted and inhospitable area at the foot of the desert escarpment towards Gebel Qatrani, is this small uninscribed temple, known locally as Qasr el-Sagha.
Then you will visit Abu Leifa Monastery. the monastery cut into the mountain is Abu Leifa Monastery, immediately behind the Qasr El Sagha temple. The inscriptions have revealed that it dates back to 686 AD and was probably founded by St. Panoukhius. The monastery was in use from the 7th through the 9th centuries.
Also, you will visit the Petrified Forest. The Petrified Forest is a protected area that features the petrified remains of trees and other plant life. These trees are estimated to be about 30 million years old and provide an incredible glimpse into the past.
Also you will visit the World’s Oldest paved Road, The road is dated along with quarry activity as Old Kingdom, with a possibility of it being of Neolithic age; at Widan El Faras the road is fully visible on the surface.
The road’s main trunk runs along the foot of the Gebel el-Qatrani escarpment, below the quarry and is joined in several places by short branches coming from different parts of the quarry. The pavement has a uniform width of about 2 m. It is made from a single course of dry-laid, unshaped pieces of whatever stone was close at hand: basalt and sandstone near the quarry, and sandstone, limestone and silicified wood elsewhere.
Also you will visit Dimieh El Sabaa ancient city ruins, The Greco-Roman city (332 BC-323 AD) of Sokhnopaiou Nesos (“Crocodile Island” in Greek) was founded by Ptolemy II in the third century B.C. on a site that shows evidence of habitation from the Neolithic period. In Ptolemaic times it was at the shore of lake Moeris (now lake Qaroun) and the beginning of the caravan routes across Gebel Qatrani and the Western Desert to the Mediterranean Sea coast and then to Greece and Rome. Serving as a port, the site is currently 65 meters higher and 2.5 kilometers beyond the water’s edge. At present time this place is known as Dimeh-al-Siba (“Dimeh of the Lions”).
Last stop at Watermelon Valley, watermelon Valley was named like this because the rocks in this part of the Fayoum desert are in the form of watermelon fruit. The rocks in Watermelon Valley changed due to the air and climatic factors, so they transformed into this exciting, wonderful and rare form, in various forms.
After you finish this amazing tour, you will go to check in at your camp and stay overnight
