Kom ombo
Kom Ombo is an industrial town 45km north of Aswan. Its classical name was Ombos, its ancient name, Nebet, and it was strategically placed between Edfu and Aswan as a garrison town on an important trading route. The Ptolemaic temple and ancient town site is a few kilometers from the modern town on a promontory on the east bank of the Nile.
The temple is unique because it is in fact a double temple, dedicated to Sobek the crocodile god, and Horus the falcon-headed god. The layout combines two temples in one with each side having its own gateways and chapels.
