Welcome to Luxor and the tour starts right away after you get off the plane or train. Your Egyptologist tour guide for your tour to Esna will be at the airport / train station awaiting your arrival. You’ll start off with a visit to the Temple of Khnum and then, continue on with a stroll through Esna’s market filled with authentic local goods!

While you sleep, your ship gently sails down the Nile while heading towards El Kab and then Edfu. In Edfu, you will see a Greco-Roman Temple dedicated to their God Horus. This is probably one of the most developed and preserved temples in Egypt, because the people had to spend so much time trying to develop outside of just what they could take into their own homes in order to keep out of the desert heat! Horse and carriage will lead you through busy streets on a trek back to your boat. After dinner, float away with a beautiful sunset backdrop inspired by the sound of chanting birds.

On this day, you can enjoy the splendors of the Nile River to the fullest. You will first have to go for a morning walk and breakfast. You might accompany your daytime excursion with swimming and there will also be time available after dinner for more recreation. During these hours, there are optional activities that you can choose to participate in or not: an optional hike and breakfast; breakfast alone; or walking into the desert, among others.

As you can see, this ancient river has done a lot of development throughout its history! You will usually be the only visitors at this site, as the large boats that cruise up and down the Niles are not permitted to stop here. Take in a wonderful view over the Nile from Horemheb’s temple, where you can also admire some great examples of stone cutting. Next, take a look at the stone quarries where they used to cut rocks. Then our captain will take us to a picturesque café so that we can enjoy tea and shisha (waterpipes).

The next morning will have you visiting the town of Kom Ombo and its temple. At this gorgeous area, one of the most majestic temples was constructed when Egypt was under Ptolemy rule. Once leaving this area, plan for a quick visit to the nearby New Crocodile Museum even though it may really look old as it’s still being expanded after opening! Here you’ll learn about the importance of crocodiles in life throughout ancient Egypt and how many mummified crocodiles are showcased here as well as some new fossils unearthed by local archaeologists. It’s an interesting museum despite its seemingly modest stature in comparison with others around it!
